What is Nutrigenetics?

The genome is a set of instructions written in our DNA which tells our bodies how to function. Small variations in the DNA sequence make each person unique.
Nutrigenetics is the study of how these genetic variations affect the interaction between diet and wellness. Scientists study the link between differences in our absorption and metabolism of nutrients and our genetic variations. For example over 90% of Northern Europeans have a variation in the lactase gene that allows them to digest milk as adults. People that do not carry this variant are often lactose intolerant.
